Welcome to the 11 th Annual - 2013 MINIs on the Dragon
May 1st - May 5th 2013

Shirt Orders will close on March 31st on 2013
Registration will Close on April 16th 2013

In order to sign up for the 2013 MOTD you will need to create a account with a user name and password for each person in your party. This will allow you to add and delete day drives and print a summary of what events you have signed up for.

Here are some hints to make your MOTD experience the best it can be:

Before the event:
Registration: There is a $8.00 registration to attend the event. From there you can add the following prepaid items to your registration package: Welcome Dinner, Dragon Bingo, Brewswap, Autocross, Draggon Draggins(pine cars racing), Farewell Dinner and several event shirts. All registration items will be picked up at the event. Only the pine cars for Draggon Draggins will be pre-shipped out.

Day Drives and Events: Individual Volunteers, Clubs and Vendors host different day drives and events each year. These are non pre-paid events. Some of them are free, many you just pay for your own meal or the designated activity. You can view these drives/events via the Schedule tab on the top of this page. You can click on each drive/event to get more details. We try to have a "Map" tab on each day drive on the schedule page, so if a drive is full and you would like to do the drive on your own you can print these out and take them to the event.

Most events will have a limit. These are due to various reasons. Sometimes it might be due the size of the restaurant, the final destination or just the need to limit the number of MINIs to keep the convoy manageable. These events will usually fill up prior to the MOTD. Please make sure to delete yourself from any drives/events you no longer want to attend to make room for others. Check back often as events and drives are often added up until the last week. You can also become a "fan" of MOTD on Facebook and I'll post up each time we get a new event! Or add your name to get your MOTD News Letter emails HERE. And of course you can always follow the forums here at: Motoring Alliance and North American Motoring

Lodging:
Fontana Village is the where the MOTD is based out of and the preferred lodging location for most people. Most folks re-book their rooms at Fontana when they leave the previous year, so you may find that Fontana is sold out when you call. You can ask to put on a wait list. You can also monitor the forums on Motoring Alliance and North American Motoring for cancellations or folks looking to share lodging. You can check the Lodging page on this website for other places to stay. Robbinsville,NC is the closest town, followed by Bryson City, NC and Maryville, TN.

At the Event:
Make sure to stop by the registration room to pick up your Name Badge and other goodies. HERE is the schedule of times that volunteers will be manning the registration room. The registration room in located in the Rec. Hall at Fontana Village. (MAP). Once inside the room, there will be several lines that are sorted by your last name, there you will get your name badge (which is also your ticket into any pre-paid events you purchased) and swag bag, from there you will pass by Nathan and hopefully donate some food or funds for the local food drive and then stop by the Shirt Table if you pre-paid for any event shirts.

Inside your swag bag will be a lanyard in which to hang your name badge and schedule card.

There will be two large maps of Fontana Village displayed at the Wildwood Grill and General Store. This map will also be in the event guide that is available to download in April. The maps will show where the different events start.

Vendor Alley: Will be located in front of the Wildwood Grill / Rec. Hall buildings at Fontana Village. You can check the list HERE towards the end of the year to see what vendors will be at the 2013 MOTD.

A friendly tip: Don't overbook yourself. Leave some down time to just relax and take in the mountains and Fontana Village. And if your schedule allows come a day or two early, you'll be glad that you did.

Reminders:
This is a grassroots event, I personally donate 8 months of each year to hosting this event and then we have a dedicated army of volunteers that all sacrifice a small portion of their MOTD time to help out. So be patient and understanding when you are at the event.

The Dragon and the surrounding roads can be dangerous. Please use caution, watch your speed and stay on your side of the yellow line. Please visit our Driving the Dragon page, watch the safety video and sign up for one our Dragon Safety Classes on Wednesday or Thursday.
