After departing Fontana Village we’ll start with a visit to Mountain Farm Museum and Mingus Mill to see how mountain people lived more than 100 years ago. There is a collection of historic log buildings gathered from throughout the Smoky Mountains and preserved on a single site. Buildings include a house, barn, applehouse, springhouse, and smokehouse.     Mingus Mill is not a traditional mill house, instead of a water wheel it has a turbine to power it machinery. 

From there we’ll start at the southern most end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, America’s favorite drive. We’ll motor north, stopping at some interesting overlooks for beautiful views of the mountains. We’ll end our trip at Balsam Mountain Inn. With 50 unique rooms, 225 windows and 100-foot, two-tier porch, Balsam Mountain Inn is unlike any hotel you’ve ever been to before. We’ll feast on southern cuisine with flair at the inn’s restaurant.  (Dinner prices range from $17.95 to $31.95)

After dinner we’ll head back to Fontana Village.
